acala athletics
terms of service
Last updated: August 24, 2026. This document is a working draft; please review the latest version before each run.
These terms govern your membership in acala athletics ("the Club," "we," "us") and your participation in our group runs. By signing up as a member or attending a run, you agree to these terms. Participation also requires that you sign our current liability waiver and follow our Code of Conduct; both are conditions of membership and participation.
Eligibility
You must be 18 or older to become a member. Membership is open to runners of all paces and experience levels.
Your health is your responsibility
Running is a strenuous physical activity. By participating, you confirm that you are physically able to run and that you have consulted a physician if you have any medical conditions that could be affected by exercise. The Club does not provide medical screening, supervision, or first aid services.
Assumption of risk
You understand that group runs involve inherent risks including, but not limited to: injury from falls, collisions, traffic, weather conditions, terrain, and the actions of other runners. You voluntarily assume all such risks.
Liability waiver
To the fullest extent permitted by California law, you release the Club, its organizers, volunteers, and members from any and all claims for injury, illness, property loss, or damage arising from your participation in club activities. You acknowledge that the Club is an informal community of runners, not a professional coaching or sports organization. You are also asked to sign a separate liability waiver before participating; in the event of any conflict between these terms and that signed waiver regarding injury, release, or assumption of risk, the signed waiver controls.
Code of conduct
All members and participants must follow our Code of Conduct, which sets out how we treat each other and stay safe on the run. If you experience or witness a violation, please tell an organizer at the run or email contact@acalaathletics.com; reports are handled confidentially. We reserve the right to warn, remove from a run, or revoke membership of anyone who violates the Code of Conduct.
RSVPs and cancellations
RSVPs help us plan and welcome new runners. If you can't make it, please cancel your RSVP so we have an accurate count. There are no fees or penalties for cancellations. If we introduce paid memberships or events in the future, any amounts paid are non-refundable unless required by law or expressly stated at the time of purchase.
Photos and video
We sometimes take photos and video at runs for use on our website and social media. By participating, you grant us permission to use your likeness in club-related materials. If you'd prefer not to appear in photos, please let an organizer know at the run.
Personal property
The Club is not responsible for lost, stolen, or damaged personal items at runs. Please keep your belongings with you.
Membership termination
You may end your membership at any time by deleting your account or emailing us. We may suspend or terminate memberships that violate these terms.
Limitation of liability
The Club's total liability to you for any claim is limited to the amount you paid for membership (which, for free tiers, is zero). We are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California. Any disputes will be resolved in the state or federal courts located in San Francisco County, California.
Changes
We may update these terms as the club grows. The current version always lives at this URL. Material changes will be announced to members by email.
